| Hello there Anna, we stumbled over this forum of horsediscussion and noticed your posting about the Knabstrupper. As you know Denmark is the land of origin of the breed, and if you want to know more about this spectacular breed dont hesitate to contact us. www.sartor.dk Now, about the origin of the Appaloosa we have been informed from Italy that a ship left the harbour of Trieste in 1631 with a shipload of Danish Spotted Horses bound for New Mexico where they apparently took part in what is here called The El Pueblo Rebellion. Have you any info to confirm this?? The name Larson indicates that your ancestors are from Sweden, correct? Best regards | Comments:- Anna
Thanks for stopping by and signing my guest book. I was not aware of a shipload of spotted horses that were send to the New world specifically, but I'd be interested in getting more information on that. As for the Pueblo revolt, But it began in August 10, 1680 and the Spanish stayed evicted until 1692. However it was afound the time of the pueblo revolt that horses did become readily availabe to the native people becasue the Spanish had to leave behind horses during the fighting. These horses were traded and bred and stolen to finally end up in the Pacific northwest with the Nez Perce who were most noted for producing fine appaloosa horses. And my Larson ancesters were from Norway. But as I understand it Norway and Sweden were all one country at one point? 18.09.04 08:35
