On the back of my previous comment I have found these stats - so again why is this player not in Hall of Fame - when I look at other current members I am questioning why   .. is there a hidden agenda perhaps as to why he is isn't there?  Confused

nice to see and read all these memories, how does one go about proposing real hockey players for your hall of fame, I did play a little from 63 through to 84 mainly with the flyers and the racers before Mr Adams and Mr Reilly   .caused all the problems Smile  Smile

Re Hall of Fame Inductees. Now this may seem odd coming from a Nottingham person but looking through the Hall of Fame and especially 2009 inductees I am wondering why Tim Cranston of our rivals the Steelers is not in the Hall of Fame   .. as much as it goes against my religion   (!) I do think Tim should be in there   .. he had a great career in the UK   (Billingham, Durham too from what I recall) and of course was instrumental in the GB squad. Is that not worthy of being recognised? Agree or disagree. Good  Bad  Question  Wink

    Hi Freddie
You will not remember me, but you will my "Old Man", he is on your list ;).
Looking at all those players, brought back happy memories when I watched hockey from the 70's through to the early 90's.

Can'y understand why Robert Stevenson was never inducted into the Hallof Fame. He was the Glasgow Dynamos inspiration from 1966 - 1971, during which time he was the leagues leading scorer.
See the following website for full detaild

I agree with Doug Robert was a top class player as well as a prominent goal scorer was also one of the best centres of his time and had a good hockey brain making him one of the best playmakers in the game. As with his father Sam and brother Barry the Stevensons will always be remembered in Ice hockey in the West. He certainly deserves any recognition in the future along with many others. Freddy Wood

Books like this do us no favours.i believe scammed from Wikipaedia.Just a copy of someone elses work in full.Do not buy.I did leave a review but it has since been removed. One would assume Amazon themselves as they would not benefit from this or the other 2,000 odd books by the same people.A pity it holds an ISBN number and is sold on the site.No author   (just writers) who you can't really contact. Can anyone give me any information on the following players who played for Perth Panthers during the war years 1939/45  ;  Bruce Hamilton, Ken Doig, Mike Mazur, Jack Siemon, Swayne Johnson and any other Canadians playing at that time. Thanks. Cameron.

Cameron. All the players you mention played for PERTH PANTHERS in the immediate years AFTER the war - between 46 and 55. Hamilton and Doig formed a very successful line with   (coach) TOMMY FORGIE for a number of years. Sadly Bruce passed away not too long ago an the Sunderland region and Jack in Perth some years before. Ken Doig was here on holiday from Canada 3/4 weeks ago. Was supposed to play golf with him but were rained off. Mike Mazur still lives in Perth, meet occasionally - not as often as we should as Mike and I went to Switzerland together when the pro hockey collapsed in 55 and he played on  right wing with me the previous season with Dundee Tigers. No news of SWAYNE JOHNSON or any other former PANTHERS. Hope this helps. Marsh Key.

I would like to propose Bert Smith for entry into the hall of fame he was one of the first home players to make the pros in the 1940's/50's played with Fife Flyers and murryfield as other english clubs was one of the first brits to play in europe also coached in europe holland & switzerland played for great britain many times i feel he should be included in the hall of fame
he played along side many who are already there am amazed he is not already included

I heartily agree. Have indeed mentioned this to David Gordon, who incidentially does a wonderful job for the sport.
I also said I felt BRUCE HAMILTON is more than a worthy nominee.

Re BERT SMITH I forgot to say he was also one of three Scots to play on the G.B.  Olympic Team at the 1948 Olympics in London. The other two Scots were TUCK SYME, DUNFERMLINE VIKINGS and FRANK JARDINE, GLASGOW MOWHAWKS. Bert also played on the highly successful FIFE FLYERS line in 47/8 season of BUD SCRUTTON   (centre ice) CHICK MANN   (right wing) and BERT on left wing.

    Country, city: Whitley Bay,
Indeed it is Whitley Warriors. Colin is the offical photographer at the club currently - and in the process of joining our association. He was present at every game   (home and away) last season and this is a pictorial record, complete with stats and odd facts, about each match. Should be well worth a read!
