Dear Mr Alexandr Sukhomlin! I am sorry, I can not write in Russian & Ukrainian. I would like to write you about the family Sukhomlin. I was doing genealogical researches on my family several years. I know that the name Sukhomlin (Сухомлин, Сухомлын) is common in Russia and Ukraine, but I don't lose a hope to find the branch of my family from Kiev.
The grand-father of my grand-father Ivan Sukhomlin lived in Kiev approximately in 1850-1860. The father of my grand-father, Gerassim Ivanovich Sukhomlin left his house very young and went with a traveling theater. He settled in Kutaisi (Georgia). I assume that Gerassim Ivanovich was born in 1845 – 1850, because he had had his first son in 1871. This son was my grand-father Nikolay Gerassimovich Sukhomlin, military engineer killed during the First World War (see http://terijoki.spb.ru/vyborg-fortress/vf_people.php) .
Gerassim Ivanovich Sukhomlin was married with a certain Marfa and they had had two children: Nikolay and daughter Varvara. It is all that we know on the branch of our family from Kiev. Can you comment if your family had the same origins?
